January 2022
January 18 – DJ Kudo Sol @ Next Door Records
DJ Kudo Sol, who usually does online music shows from his bedroom, spins the discs at west London’s newest record shop, bar and event space, Next Door Records, in the room alongside Bush Hall at 304 Uxbridge Road, W12. His regular broadcasts feature everything from Herbie Hancock and The Roots to Jimi Hendrix and The System.
January 19 – Amythyst Kiah @ Bush Hall
Rock, blues and folk fusion singer-songwriter Amythyst Kiah is doing a warm-up gig at Bush Hall, 310 Uxbridge Road, W12, ahead of a planned tour of Mexico and the USA. Rolling Stone described her as “one of Americana’s great up-and-coming secrets” and her new LP, Wary & Strange, is now out. 7.30pm.
January 19 – Poppy Richler @ Next Door Records
Poppy Richler is the guest DJ at Next Door Records, 304 Uxbridge Road, with her Rhythm Changes show – a mix of jazz and other genres.
January 20 – Create in Clay class @ Kite Studios
Are you aged between five and 10? Join the Create in Clay class at Kite Studios, the ‘creative oasis’ at 2b Bassein Park Road, W12, where (between 4-5pm) Madeline Hall will explain and explore. January 20 – James Larter @ Next Door Records
On January 20, live at Next Door Records in Uxbridge Road is percussionist, drummer and composer James Larter. Performing tracks from his new album, Polarity, on drums, loop pedals and xylosynth.
January 21 – Brudenell Groove @ Next Door Records
This evening’s party guest DJ at Next Door Records, Uxbridge Road, is Brudenell Groove with a show into the evening at the happening Shepherd’s Bush venue.
January 22 – Fair Play @ Bush Theatre
Your last chance to see Fair Play at the Bush Theatre at 7 Uxbridge Road, with two performances – a 2.30pm matinee and an evening show at 7.30pm. Written by Ella Road, it’s a show about two girls from different backgrounds who compete in athletics in the run up to the world championships. From £10. If you miss it, it will be streaming online from 7 Feb.
January 23 – Karaoke @ Sindercombe Social
Head to the Sindercombe Social from 8-11.50pm for a karaoke night with a difference… singing to a live band instead of a boring old machine. The pub/restaurant is at 2 Goldhawk Road, W12, and you simply pick a song from the long list, then step up on stage and sing it to the screened lyrics using the provided microphone. Free entry.
January 24 – Quiz Night @ The Escape bar
Join the regular Monday night quiz at The Escape bar in 174 Goldhawk Road. First prize is a £30 bar tab, as well as runners-up prizes too. Entry is £1, with teams of up to six. Compiled by bar manager Martin, and hosted by staff, questions mix mind-bending trivia and fun facts. Tables can be booked, and the picture round is published online in advance.
January 25 – Printmaking @ Kite Studios
From 9.30am to noon, try your hand at printmaking at Kite Studios, 2b Bassein Park Road, W12, in an adult class run by seasoned expert Sally Grumbridge, who has been involved in the studios for 12 years. Organise a trial session for £40. The price includes tuition, use of the presses and materials.
January 29 – Cast @ O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire
To mark the 25th anniversary of their debut album All Change, the band Cast will perform the record in its entirety on stage at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, plus a selection of the greatest hits. Doors open 7pm. From £28.75.

February 2 – Music – Samantha Fish
If you’re still hanging on to your original tickets to hear American singer-songwriter Samantha Fish at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, they’re valid on February 2. More tickets have been issued as well for the jazz/blues performer, who turns 33 the week before the gig. 7pm. From £23
February 3 – Open mic night @ The Escape bar
It’s open mic night at The Escape bar in Goldhawk Road, whether you want to try out some stand-up material, recite a poem or showcase your musical talent. Everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame, and you can book your slot in advance online. Peyton Vega hosts.
February 4 – DJ Daddy Long Legs @ The Pocketwatch pub
The hottest night of tunes and dancing in Shepherd’s Bush returns as DJ Daddy Long Legs and his Top Banana Hifi soundsystem take over The Pocketwatch pub in 434 Uxbridge Road. The strictly vintage vinyl night specialises in reggae, lovers rock, funk and soul – with guest DJ Mr Shiver joining.
February 5 – Live R&B Night @ Bush Hall
The Pit London has joined forces with Bush Hall to stage a night of R&B music from 7.30pm until 1am at the historic venue (built in 1904) in Uxbridge Road, with advance tickets from £8. Over 18s only. Acts include Meron T (a single-songwriter with Ethiopian roots), Safiyyah (a west Londoner with a soothing voice), B-awhe (a mix of neo-soul, jazz and alternative hip-hop) and Jaydonclover (an experimental female singer from Birmingham).
February 9 – Queens Park Rangers v Middlesbrough
With Shepherds Bush’s local football team, Queens Park Rangers, having a promising season in the top five of the Championship, the QPR v Middlesbrough match on Wednesday night at 7.45pm under the floodlights promises to be special. As of writing, just two places separate the teams. The Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium’s main entrance is in South Africa Road.

February 16 – Red Pitch @ Bush Theatre
Sticking with the Bush Theatre’s current sporting theme, Red Pitch has its opening night (it runs until 26 Mar). Written by Tyrell Williams, it tells the story of three young footballers dreaming of stardom but having to battle the threat to their local pitch as a result of the gentrification of their area. Tickets from £10.
February 16 – Mel C @ O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
Mel C appears at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire. The original Spice Girl (she was Sporty, of course) has earned more than 40 silver, gold and platinum discs as a solo artist, and is the female singer with the most songs at No1 in UK history. Tickets start at £34.70. 7pm.
February 19 – Petit Miracles hub @ West 12 Shopping Centre
Have you been inspired by The Repair Shop? Do you want to learn how to upcycle furniture? A workshop course is being staged at the Petit Miracles hub in the West 12 Shopping Centre in Shepherd’s Bush Green, to gain inspiration and hands-on experience in creativity and sustainability. Runs from 11am-2pm. Tickets from £53.42.
February 19 – Art classes @ art-K
So, you’ve got a teenager who’s keen on art? Children’s art classes run from 11.15am-12.45pm on Saturdays at art-K in 114 Askew Road. Spaces are available for £24 for a try-it-and-see class which – in the course of a series – aims to cover watercolour, ink, pastel, oil pastel, clay and papier mache.
February 19 – Milton Jones @ O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire
The crazy-haired, bizarre-shirted master of the one-liners Milton Jones is on stage at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, with his show Milton Impossible. Tickets from £32.45. 7pm. Example? I hate sitting in traffic, because I always get run over.
February 20 – Brews, burgers and beats @ Sindercombe Social
It’s brews, burgers and beats night at the Sindercombe Social on the corner of Goldhawk Road and Shepherd’s Bush Green, with an open mic session offering everything from folk to rap while you munch a burger meal. Entry is free, from 7pm.
February 22 – Echo & The Bunnymen @ O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire
With 20 Top 20 hits behind them, and classic albums including Porcupine and Ocean Rain, Echo & The Bunnymen are back on the bill at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, with tickets from £44.85. Original members Will Sergeant and Ian McCulloch will be on stage, playing songs including The Killing Moon, Nothing Lasts Forever and The Cutter. Doors open at 7pm.
March 1 – Aly & AJ @ O2 Shepherd Bush’s Empire
Yankee girl duo Aly & AJ play the O2 Shepherd Bush’s Empire as part of their A Touch of The Beat Tour, with doors opening at 7pm and tickets starting at under £30. Expect tracks from LPs Insomniatic and Into The Rush, as well as music from the Touch of The Beat album, released by the sisters during lockdown.

Escape Room @ The Game is Now
Fancy yourself as a bit of a detective? You’ll need teamwork to solve the clues in the Sherlock-themed escape room at the W12 shopping centre on the Green. The Game is Now leads players through immersive sets to crack the mystery. Suitable for anyone over 10, and lasting one and a half hours, you’ll be assisted by virtual versions of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Crazy Golf @ Puttshack
Fancy yourself as a golfer? Here’s a new challenge. Puttshack is a food, drink and crazy golf venue in Westfield, White City, with bizarre holes (one a drum kit, another a ‘beer pong’) and cool vibes. Open daily, and best to book at peak times. Behind the scenes tour @ QPR’s stadium
Get the full Hoops experience and take a peek behind the scenes with a tour of QPR’s Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium in South Africa Road. Visit the pitch-side area, press room, tunnel, hospitality area etc. Adults £15, concs £7.50, with all profits going to the QPR in the Community Trust. Tours are every Saturday and Wednesday, unless it’s a matchday.
