19 November – 7 January – Jack and the Beanstalk, Lyric Theatre Hammersmith
The Lyric brings Jack and the Beanstalk to the stage in a refreshing new way. They say to expect beanstalk climbing, giant defeating, golden egg laying, extreme skateboarding, milk explosions, singing cows, some outrageous outfits and Beyoncé.
23 November – 31 December – Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas, Lyric Theatre Hammersmith
A favourite with families in West London, this production joins Santa as he prepares his Christmas deliveries, readies the reindeer, and takes flight on Christmas Eve. Book tickets via the Lyric website.
26 November – Addison Oratorio and Chamber Choirs’ concert
There’s just enough time to secure tickets for The Addison Singers’ last performance under David Wordsworth, who has been Music Director of the organisation for over 26 years. Set to be a spectacular send-off. Tickets can be bought online.
2 – 4 December – Festive Duck Pond Markets
The Duck Pond Markets at Chiswick House are a regular feature in many locals’ weekend plans. In the run-up to Christmas you’ll find festive cheer in an abundance at the Duck Pond Markets with Christmas music performed by a Rock Choir.
3 December – The Hogarth Health Club’s Santa Run
To raise money for local charity The Upper Room, The Hogarth Health Club have organised a Santa Run to take place on Saturday 3rd December. For their entry fee, participants are given a Santa suit to wear, and a mince pie and mulled wine at the finish line.
The route includes running (or walking) over the two bridges, over the river anti-clockwise via Barnes and Hammersmith bridges and back to the Hogarth Club where there is a Christmas Market being held at The Airedale Bar afterwards.
3 December – Addison Singers Jazz Concert, St Andrew’s Church, Greyhound Rd
Including songs from Rogers and Hammerstein, this evening is set to be a musical delight and will not want to be missed by those locals who enjoy jazz music. Tickets are available to purchase online or on the door on the night.
4 December – Chiswick Christmas Flower Market
This December the Chiswick Flower Market will feature several special events to really get into the Christmas swing. From 11am – 12.30pm there is the Ho Ho Ho (A really big non-panto show) taking place and there is also a vegan market.
4 December – Christmas Wreath Making Workshop with Hen Corner, George IV
This special wreath-making workshop will use trimmings from Hen Corner’s garden and a selection of ribbons and decorations. Everything is provided for each participant to create and take home their wonderful handmade wreaths. Tickets are available via Eventbrite.
6-10 December – Rapunzel, St Michael’s Centre, Elmwood Road
The St Michael’s Players Pantomime this year is ‘Rapunzel’ which will run between 6th of December and 10th December. Tickets are just £8 each and are available to buy online.
7-9 December – Local Christmas Choir Competition, Westfield London
Westfield London will host its annual Christmas Choir competition from 7-9 December. Children from over 50 West London primary schools give wonderful renditions of traditional carols, hoping to be crowned the most melodious choir. The competition is open for all to watch and enjoy.
10 December – Petros Singers, St Peter’s Church, Hammersmith
A highlight of the Christmas in West London 2022 calendar – The Petros Singers will be performing Christ’s Nativity at St Peter’s Church, Black Lion Lane, Hammersmith. Join for a real Christmas experience of old, candlelight, mulled wine, mince pies and audience carols. Tickets are available to buy online.
12 December – A Christmas Concert at the George IV
The George IV is well known for putting together excellent, popular events, and this Christmas is no different. Featuring beloved Christmas songs such as I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas and Merry Christmas Everybody together with carols which the audience is invited to join for a sing-along. The Christmas Concert at the George IV is likely to sell out so secure tickets online early.
15 December – Ceilidh Night, London Ceilidh Club, Chiswick Town Hall
Experience a taste of Scotland in Chiswick. The event promises to keep you moving as the Ceilidh band plays and a caller guides you through the steps. Suited to beginners or the experienced ceilidh dancer. Tickets are available online.
Christmas Shopping in West London
From the pop-up handmade market at Westfield Shopping Centre to the many markets being run around the area in the run-up to Christmas, there are many places for Christmas Shopping in West London.
Chiswick House Christmas Shop is open on Thursdays and Saturdays throughout November and December between 10am and 3pm, and will be selling gifts including a special Christmas Gin and decorations for the home.
Christmas in West London 2022: Ice Rinks
Winter Village, Westfield London
The outdoor ice rink at Westfield’s Winter Village offers local residents 1000 square metres of ice on which to enjoy some festive skating. The Winter Village will be home to the tallest tree to feature on an ice rink in Europe, at 65ft tall. It also makes for the perfect break when you’re Christmas shopping.
Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park
From Chiswick and Shepherd’s Bush, and the northern tip of Brackenbury Village, you can hop on the 94 bus which runs all the way to Hyde Park and Winter Wonderland. Winter Wonderland has the biggest ice rink in the UK, where you can glide around a bandstand and skate to the sound of a live band.
Of course, once you’re in Winter Wonderland you can immerse yourself in the Christmas themes delights from the Christmas Market to seasonal food and a wide variety of fairground rides.
