Homes that are the most sought after in Chiswick, Shepherd’s Bush or Hammersmith are often located on or near to the most exclusive addresses in West London.
These locations would all feature in a round up of the best places to live in West London but for the purpose of this blog, we’re highlighting some of the most exclusive roads and neighbourhoods in the area and the reasons why living there is quite such a desirable prospect.
It is important to keep in mind homes in these locations rarely become available on the open market, instead often being sold discreetly, with vendors selling off market. There properties will also often hold a scarcity value.
The most exclusive places to live in Hammersmith
Living in Hammersmith has become more desirable over the years, with the area becoming a more up-and-coming destination. From Wingate Road to The Upper Mall, we outline the most exclusive places to live in Hammersmith and the many reasons why they are such a sought-after area.
Ravenscourt Square
Running along the western edge of Ravenscourt Park, Ravenscourt Square is lined with fine houses. Nearby Ravenscourt Gardens and Ravenscourt Park Roads are also some of the most exclusive addresses in West London. Many of these beautiful period homes enjoy leafy views over the park, others simply benefit from having the vast expanse within moments of their front door. Many of these homes enjoy good plot sizes too meaning people living in Ravenscourt Park benefit from generous gardens and have a sense of space and serenity whilst being well-connected.
Upper Mall
The Upper Mall in W6 is a stretch that runs along the River Thames with homes enjoying direct, unspoilt river views – they offer front row seats for the annual Cambridge versus Oxford boat race! These, mostly period, properties are highly desirable places to live and unlike most roads, there are only houses on one side of Upper Mall as they face the river, pushing the exclusivity factor higher.
Hammersmith Grove
On the other side of Brackenbury Village is Hammersmith Grove and its tall townhouses, often with drives to the front. Whilst some of the properties along Hammersmith Grove have been converted to apartments or are purpose built, the houses dotted along the road are truly special. And with Hammersmith station, Lyric Square and King Street to one end and Westfield Shopping centre, Shepherd’s Bush Market and the Goldhawk Road at the other, residents really can enjoy being within easy reach of the action.
Wingate Road
Perhaps one of the most photographed roads in London, and definitely one of the most recognisable images of West London – Wingate Road and its pastel-coloured homes are infamous, and rarely available to buy. These homes are not only pretty on the outside but many are immaculate internally too. However, buyers or renters will be lucky to secure a property on Wingate Road with them rarely available to let or buy, less than one a year in fact.
St Peter’s Square
St Peter’s Square is a beautiful garden square in W6, near to the Chiswick border and is absolutely one of the most exclusive places to live in West London. The garden square is surrounded by glorious Grade II Listed stucco fronted houses. Some of the houses have a rear annex and off-street parking. Few places in West London boast such stunning architecture together with excellent connectivity and local amenities, being positioned just off King Street.

Rylett Road
